An artesian spring revered by Native Americans for millennia, the Jacobs Well spring has been flowing out of a natural underground reservoir known as the Trinity Aquifer for perhaps millions of years. It`s actually one of the largest springs in the Trinity Aquifer system and it`s primarily the soul source of Cypress Creek. The beautiful Cypress line creek that runs through the cities of Woodcreek, Wimberly and the beautiful Blue Hole swimming area. To dive all the way to the end of the principal passage is about a five hour dive. Deep in the cave there is little to see except for beautiful plants, wildlife and the intricate cave system.
However, around the entrance and even in the first chamber there are signs of life. You can see turtles and many species of fish like catfish, sunfish, perch and more. These are typically animals that have entered the cave and have lost their way. Including the Texas blind salamander. If you love traveling, the Jacobs Well spring is the perfect destination for you. The water in this well is so transparent and clear that swimming inside makes it like floating in an empty space.
